The various lotus seed pods have distinctive shapes and structure with multiple small cavities, each containing a seed. The pod matures from a vibrant green to a brown or tan hue as it ages. The seeds are nestled securely within these cavities, protected until they are ready to disperse. The pod’s unique appearance, with its honeycomb-like pattern, is visually striking. Lotus seeds have been used as functional food and medicine for thousands of years.
