MARCH IS BRAIN INJURY AWARENESS MONTH
I’m very excited to offer a new print for sale in which all the net proceeds will be donated to organizations that are dedicated to brain injury awareness, research, and rehabilitation. The best part is, this is not my print. This photo was taken by my daughter Jade who (in this mom’s opinion) has a good photographic eye. Jade and I have chosen an image that tells the story of loneliness and despair of the effects of living with a brain injury. A traumatic brain injury can cause a loss of cognitive and/or physical abilities and the memories and experiences associated with them. People may experience a sense of disconnection from their previous way of life, struggles and hardships and unfamiliar terrain. Being misunderstood can cause a sense of isolation and loneliness. Looking at this scene brings forth these types of feelings.
We look forward to unveiling it on March 1.

Jade sustained a life-threatening traumatic brain injury in 2007 when she was not wearing a seatbelt in a single-vehicle car accident. She and our family have been forever changed by that one instance. Her road to recovery was extremely difficult and we would like to do what we can to keep this from happening to others. As we share her journey and other information throughout the month of March, we hope to give you a better understanding of brain injury and what it means to live with one.
